DaWanda Say It With Clay Competition

A few weeks ago I was asked by DaWanda to join their blogger competition. They would send me a secret package with craft supplies, and I had to make something with it. Sounded like fun, so I was in!

Unfortunately for me, what they sent me was Fimo Clay! If you've been reading my blog for a long time, and saw my post about the bread chickens I made for Easter a few years ago, you will know that making things out of clay is not exactly my forté.

I decided to stick to what I know and make jewelry! I used cookie cutters to cut out the basic shapes, and then stamped on them with the stamps I bought at Hema some time ago.

After that I turned them into necklaces, earrings, rings and brooches. And tadaa...

The finished result! I love how they turned out. If you do too, you can vote for me at the DaWanda fan page on facebook. All you need to do is like this image in their Say It With Clay competion album.

Your votes would mean a lot to me!

A Cake For Baby Isa

Happy news! On September 10th my little baby niece Isa was born! It's so strange to think that 2 and a half years ago my nephew Jelte was just as tiny!

She's adorable and I'm such a proud aunt!

We made this cake in celebration of Isa's birth. I love how it turned out! The pink and white sprinkles are something we eat on bread in the Netherlands (we eat a weird selection of sweet sprinkles on our bread over here!), these are called "Pink & White Mice", and we traditionally eat them on "beschuit" when a baby is born. There's a blue & white variation too of course!

A New Shop

Like I mentioned yesterday, I moved the shop to a new platform. I loved the idea of Magento (the shopping cart system I used before), but I was always busy fixing technical problems, which drove me insane.

So a few months ago I moved the shop to the Luondo system. I LOVE IT. It's so nice to not have to deal with technical stuff anymore! Especially on days I don't feel good it's nice to know that once I have packed my orders, I can relax the rest of the day if I want to. When I was still using Magento there was always something that needed fixing.

I also love the look of the new shop. What do you think?

Life

Yikes! It's been ages since I last blogged! Life, work and health got in the way, so I had to put my blogging on hold for a while.

I haven't been sitting still though. These are the highlights of the last few months...

Lots of fun with my friend Marjolein!

Going to Eurovision with my friend Sarah, and rooting for Holland, Denmark and Sweden.

I moved the shop to a new platform, which means: A gorgeous new website!

Sightseeing in Copenhagen with my cousin Nienke...

A photoshoot at marjolijnthijse.com photostudio.

Seeing the Smashing Pumkins on their Greatest Hits tour with Mr.Licious

I don't have a picture of the most exciting news though: My sister is pregnant and about to give birth! Her due date was September 1st, so it can happen any minute now!

I am so happy about becoming an aunt for the second time! I absolutely adore my nephew Jelte, and I can't wait to meet his baby sister!

And there is lots more that made me happy over the past few months:

- Watching movies & TV shows with my lovely friends Mette & Lotte
- Getting into cross stitch
- Relaxing more

All in all, apart from the frequent migraines, life is pretty good lately!
