Chocolate Lovers' Brownies

This weekend I made some (late) birthday brownies for Mr.Licious and his colleagues. He asked if I could bake something, and when I suggested brownies, his reply was "Do you have my mom's recipe?".

See, Mr.Licious' mom is American, and she makes the BEST brownies ever. And now you can make them too, because she was kind enough to give me the recipe and let me share it with you.

Mix together well:
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons cocoa
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar)
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chunks from a bar of dark chocolate

Grease large rectangular cake pan (Mine was round! Oops?)
Spread batter in pan
Bake in preheated oven on 175 degrees celsius (345 degrees fahrenheit), 20-25 minutes (until toothpick comes out clean)
Makes about 50 brownies cut in one-inch squares

I bought a very useful set of measuring cups and spoons while in the USA last Christmas, so I didn't need to convert any measurements. But if you are in Europe and you don't have any ways to measure out American measurements, you might want to use this website.

Hmmm, delicious sugary chocolate goo!

Mixing in the nuts & chocolate chunks. I had such a hard time not licking out the bowl! I don't eat grains or sugar though (I'm a Paleo girl!), so I had to resist, and I did, but it was hard!

Ready for the oven! I added some M&M like cupcaked decoration to give it a little extra birthday cheer.

In the oven...The whole house smelled delicious by now!
