Pretty Packages

Over the past few years I have changed the packaging for my shop a dozen times. I always want it to be safer, and to look better, prettier and more professional. When I started out, all I used were ziplock bags, no bag toppers, no boxes, nothing! I realised that wasn't the way to go though.

New Packaging

After trying out different ways to pack my products, this is what my packaging looks like now.

I used to only have small cotton filled boxes, and bulkier items, like rings didn't fit in. I used pillow boxes for those items, but it turns out they can get squished during shipment, breaking the items inside. Now I have cotton filled boxes in all kinds of sizes, so all items can be sent safely.

The round stickers are also new. I got them at Vistaprint.

I also got some little cards printed for necklace packaging. I had bigger cards before, but I never used them, as I use small bubble envelopes, and the cards barely fit in. These little ones make much more sense, and I think they look so cute & professional!

If you are a shop owner, how do you pack & ship your items? And if you are a shopper, what do you think is most important about packaging? Do you just want your purchases to arrive safely, or do you care about the way it looks too?

  1. Dearest Tizz, your packaging looks awesome...i really adore that cute sticker you use on your box. :) Im a huge fan of packaging both receiving and giving. It always takes me a while to package an item because i often try different things for each package...so each package is unique but i do have standard packaging items like tags and ribbons that i used on each package.

  2. Lol, well when I did make EGL clothing for a living, I just wanted the package to arrive safely. I did put the items in a muslin drawstring bag though. I love your packaging as it is very cohesive: blog, site, everything. Great idea to use business cards for the necklaces.
Vista has not failed me yet! I have small rpund stickers are well, though they look a bit boring as I cannot install the adobe suite on my netbook.

  7. That looks so sweet! I want to use bows too, but I never figured out how to
do that with a bow and a sticker, I like your tiny sticker idea! Or maybe I
will use little tags (I got cute round ones with the logo, like the
stickers), so maybe I will use ribbon with the tag or something :)) I have
some huuuuge rolls of pink organza ribbon, haha :D

  11. You could use the cute little drawing of the girl that's on your site? It
would look adorable on packaging I think!

  12. I still need to work on my packaging. I use cotton filled boxes too and I stamp the Pulp Sushi name on the lid. I would love to get some display cards made for my necklaces. Yours looks really nice. Did you get them on Vistaprint too?

  14. Looks amazing Tizz :)! I would love to have packaging like that but I have to earn a tiny bit more money first :). I'm now still in the zip-lock stage :).
I do need to figure something out for my rings though, it went well till now
but I fear the day one of them arrives broken :(. xoxo

  15. Thank you!

Maybe you could get some boxes for them, and just raise their price (or the
    shipping price) a little bit?

  16. Ah ha! =D So you just cut the slits on the sides? Brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah :) I was thinking about making them slanted, but the pattern on the
cards make it SO easy to get them straight and at the same level, that I
just do it like that, and the necklaces don't slide out anyway.
