Nail Polish Identity Crisis

Image via WeHeartIt

I have been painting my toenails bright red for the past I don'tl know how long. Earlier this week I decided that maybe a change would be nice, so I went for a nice turquoise-ish green. Result: An identity crisis whenever I look at my toes!

Maybe I should switch back to red for my toes, but I would like to use all the other colors of nail polish I have (and want to buy!). I never wear any on my finger nails, because I can't seem to keep it on. Maybe I craft too much, or maybe I am just a clutz, in any case, my nail polish is always chipped within a few hours.

So my question to those of you who are also crafty and/or clutzy, but who do wear nail polish on their finger nails: How do you do it? What's the best brand to buy? Should I add a base or top layer? Any other tips?

  1. For me I just have to choose between a day of nice nails or work XP nothing I do seems to stop it from getting chipped within 24 hours!!

  2. Try Seche Vite topcoat AND a good base coat (I use Sally Hansen Nail Quencher). Paint over the top of your nails with the topcoat so it kinda goes round onto the like.. top part of your nail, the thin bit (Does that make sense? :s). The Seche Vite topcoat will make it try super fast so it's harder to smudge and it will stay on for dayssss. :)

  4. I just paint my nails when I'm going out or having a few days break from crafting otherwise it chips :( I heard Essie is a fantastic brand that stays on ages though.

  7. I buy the cheap stuff. The expensive stuff chips in the same amount of time as the cheap stuff. I always seem to mess up my nails because I put too much of a heavy coat on them. Make sure you polish in thin layers. I've gotten a lot better about that. Good luck!
