Baby News!

I have exciting baby news! No, I am not pregnant myself, but my little sister is! I am going to be an aunt! I've known for a while now, but I had to keep it a secret until my sister and her boyfriend told everyone they wanted to tell in person. I got the all clear a few weeks ago, and shared it on Twitter, but I never got around to sharing the big news here.

My sister and her boyfriend have been together for what seems centuries (in reality it's 8 years, they started going out when she was 18), so I was always secretly (and not so secretly) hoping that they would start making babies soon, but I didn't really expect it to happen so suddenly. I love it!

People now seem to think that just because she is 2 years younger than me, I suddenly need to be pregnant too, or that it's hard for me that my younger sister is having a kid before I am. Huh? No! I am just really really happy. It's not the right time in life for me to start a family, but I did reach the "OMG babies are so cute, can I steal yours?" phase, so what's better than getting a niece or nephew, a baby that is soooooooooooooo close to me, but not mine?

  2. Congratulations!!

And in case you care: I am where you are. I have 2 younger sisters. The one 2 years younger has a 3 and 4 year old I adore....worship...cuddle to death. My sister 6 years younger than I am is 15 weeks pregnant now. And even though I would love to get pregnant, there is no jealousy or whatever other emotion than utterly happiness to become an aunt again.

So, congrats! And to your sister as well of course.

  3. Congrats to you and your family! :D I know exactly how you feel, I will be a first time auntie in two months. It's all so exciting and special. I find it very nice to see my brother and sister-in-law so happy and we all can't hardly wait till my little niece is born.

  4. Congrats on being an Aunite! It's a GREAT feeling. I have 1 neice and 1 nephew. I don't have kids either and when my younger sister got pregnant the questions started coming "when you are and C*** going to get married, are you next?, get married so I can have another grandchild." So I know how ya feel! Being an Auntie is great because you can have fun with them and give them back when you're wiped out.
