Purchases From The Fabric Market in Utrecht: "De Lapjesmarkt"

Fabric Market in Utrecht

Every Saturday morning there's a large fabric market in Utrecht, the largest city near my hometown Nieuwegein. It closes at 12.00, so you have to make sure to get up early, but it's definitely worth it.

Fabric Market in Utrecht

Last time I was there I planned on only buying red polkadot fabric (as mine ran out), but I came home with a lot more than that! (How could I not, with stalls filled with gingham & polka dot fabric like the one above? I had a hard time not buying some in every shade!)

Fabric! The pink with dots is to make hair clips and rings (you will find them in the shop soon!), and the plain pink and gingham pink is to cover my stall, whenever I am going to do a market. I have no idea when that will be, but I am planning on doing one some time soon, so when I spotted this fabric in the exact colors of my website & packaging, I just couldn't resist!

Pretty Pink Ribbon

Cute Ribbon!

Pretty Pink Ribbon

Ribbons! I needed the red, white & blue one for some Dutch themed things I have in mind. The other ones were just too pretty & cute not to buy.

Matryoshka Patch

Aaaand last but not least, a Matryoshka applique. I don't know what to put it on yet. A top? a Skirt? I think I will make myself a simple pink or red skirt and add it to that with some ribbon and things like that.

  14. Hello!
We have a company, www.douglaspaquette.com. We sell flip flops, belts, dog accessories, etc... all out of jacquard ribbon that we design and have made. When Douglas Paquette retires a design we usually have quite a bit of ribbon left over. I have started a website, www.allysbazaar.com where I sell this ribbon retail and wholesale. I would love it if you would take a look at my website. I'd love to sell you some ribbon. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or you feel this is something you might be interested in! Thank you for your time! Allyson Paquette

  16. I stumbled upon the fabric market in Utrecht when i was visiting last year and was so happy to have accidentally found it! My boyfriend was very patient as i browsed all the stalls and chose some fabric to take home with me. You really are really lucky to have it so close to you as i saw fabrics there i just can't get anything like back home in the UK. LOVE your pictures by the way, especially love the ribbons!
