Migraine Wednesday

13/365 Bored, Blah & Migrainey

I'm skipping DaWanda Wednesday today, because I feel the way I look in the picture above (taken for my Project 365 in April 2007): Migrainey and blah.

As you might know, I suffer from chronic headaches. I get migraines a couple of times a week, and there is always that annoying headache nagging in the back (or front) of my head. This week has been especially bad though, I have woken up and gone to bed with a throbbing head for about 10 days straight now. Aaaaaaaaaargh!

I'm seriously contemplating going back on Topamax, a drug that I used a couple of times in the past, and which actually helped the migraines, but which I gave up every time because of the side effects. Sometimes it's hard to decided what's harder to deal with, the illness you take the meds for, or the side effects they cause. At the moment, I just don't know anymore.

  9. I'm sorry to hear that! I often think about that when you see the many drug commercials out there..."will relieve your X, but you may experience a number of worse symptoms and never take if you are (almost any condition imaginable)..." YIKES!

  16. Acupuncture can be very effective for migraines, and it's prescription free! My hubby is an acupuncturist and has often talked about how migraines can be caused by so many different imbalances in the body, which is probably why MD's have such a hard time helping patients. I encourage you to try a little alternative medicine! :)

  18. Sorry you are having such frequent migraines. My daughters and I get migraines also. They are horrible! Yuck! I took the Topamax once also, but didn't like the side effects either. Have you ever tried the Imitrex? It does work for me, but I really don't like how I feel for an hour or 2 after taking it. It does take the pain away though.

  19. The mind is a beautiful thing, but not when it's in pain. I hope that you figure out the migraine thing..I feel awful bad for you. Mine is caused by light, a glare can trigger it ..its very wierd.
