Tizzie's Tutorial #5: Tizzalicious' Guide To Glueing

Fingers stuck together, glue all over your work, pieces falling off after wearing them once...I'm sure this sounds familiar to everyone who ever tried to make jewelry or accessories using glue. It sure applied to me a while ago, I hate a passionate hate for glueing, but oh how I wanted to make stud earrings and brooches!

I found the solution though, so here is Tizzalicious' Guide to Glueing, to help you all out too!

Guide To Glueing #1

What you need:

- E6000 glue
- Tappas fork or toothpick.
- The bits & pieces you want to glue together
- Something to protect your desk

Step 1. Break one side of the tapas stick, so you have a nice long, flat, but not too wide stick to work with. If you can't find tapas forks anywhere, simply use you a toothpick. They aren't as nice to hold, because they are smaller, but they will do the trick. If you would like something longer, a skewer or take out chop sticks are a great idea too (Thanks Connie!), I always used them before I discovered the tapas forks.

Step 2. Squeeze your tube of E6000 so you get a nice dollop of glue on your tapas fork/toothpick. Make sure you use E6000 glue, it's the only glue that really works for me. Everything else I tried either soaked through my work (super glue), or simply made my pieces fall apart (super glue & random craft glues).

Step 1 & 2

Step 3. Use the tapas fork/toothpick to spread the glue out on your materials. Make sure you do it on both of the sides you want to glue together! Don't use too much glue, but don't use too little either, or else it won't stick.

Guide To Glueing #3
Step 3

Step 4. Wait! Your tube of glue will say how long. I think it is 2 to 10 minutes for E6000. How lonng you have to wait depends on the weather. If it's warm and dry, the glue will dry faster.

Step 5. When the glue is semi dry, but not completely, press the pieces together.

Step 5. Let dry overnight.

Step 6

That's it? Not too bad, right? The trick is to know which glue to use (E6000!) and not squeeze the glue directly on your work, because that just makes things messy.

I have glued plastic, metal and fabric using this method, and it's all very stong. Make sure you don't glue the wrong things together though, because even pulling with pliers won't make them come apart anymore!

If you are unfortunate enough to live in a country that doesn't sell E6000 (like me!), don't fear, it's easy to find on many places online, like on Etsy.

Anniversary Presents

As I mentioned before, last week the boyfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary! We went downtown the next day to buy a birthday present for his brother, and when we were there, we decided to go into a fancy department store and buy presents for each other there. We set a budget, and a time limit, and split up. It was so much fun! It was hard, because we didn't have a huge budget, and the prices there were crazy, but I loved it, and we both succeeded in finding each other some great things. (Let's just ignore the fact that we both didn't manage to stick withing the budget ;;)

Mushroom Keychain

The boyfriend proved he knows me well (and pays attention to my blog!) and got me this super cute & sparkly mushroom key chain from Accessorize.

Ouch Bandaids

Then he proves how well he knows me some more, and gave me these bandaids. I am super clumsy, and end up with cuts everywhere all the time. Last week I had cuts & burns in 5 of my fingers, all from different incidents!

Bath & Body Goodies

He also got me these yummy bath & body goodies!

As for what I got him? A coffee grinder! I was lucky to find one on sale that almost made the budget. He made good use of it already, because some time ago he bought some fancy coffee, but forgot to ask to get it ground, so he had a bag of coffee beans just itching to be used!

Cute Hedgehog Necklaces

It's definitely autumn here in Holland. The streets are covered in leaves, and it's getting colder. I wouldn't mind autumn so much if it was the nice and sunny gorgeous light kind of weather some places are lucky enough to have this time a year, but unfortunately Holland is the gloomy & rainy autumn kind of country. Actually, it's gloomy and rainy here almost all year around.

Black Heart & Hedgehog Necklace

Autumn does have it's good things too though...like all the cute mushroom & woodland items that you can find in the shops. I couldn't stay behind of course, so over the weekend I made these cute hedghog necklaces. Aren't they sweet? As always, you can find it on Tizzalicious.com, Etsy & DaWanda.

Turquoise Heart & Hedgehog Necklace

As you can see, I'm all for color in Autumn. No brown & beige for me!

Now Available at Open Shop Amsterdam!

Open Shop Amsterdam

Yesterday was an exciting day for me! I had an appointment with Open Shop in Amsterdam to drop off a wholesale order. We decided I could just bring them over, as I had to be in Amsterdam to see my neurologist anyway.

Open Shop Amsterdam

If you're ever in Amsterdam, you should definitely drop by, it's a great shop filled with Dutch Design! I think everything is made by small designers like me. As you can see in the pictures, they also have a lot of clothing. Fantastic clothing, I should say. I wish I had more money so I could have gone on a little shopping spree!

Visit Open Shop's website for more info. It's in English!

Time For Taxes

Heart Calculator

It's that time of the year again! The third quarter ended, so it was time to do my taxes. Luckily I had my administration together and up to date, and I could file everything online, so it wasn't too bad this time.

Taxes = Blegh

Not too bad, still doesn't equal "fun" though. Taxes are, and will always be blegh. My (super awesome heart shaped) calculate agrees too!

But hey, it's done now, so I will be free of it for another 3 months! Wooo!

Dumpling Dynasty Sewing Kit

Dumpling Dynasty Sewing Kit

I'm so happy with my new Dumpling Dynastie sewing kit! I'd been eyeing it forever, but aside from "omgitlooksoawesome!" I never had a good reason to buy it. Until now!

Pink Measuring Tape

So what is this great reason I found to buy this super cute sewing kit? The measuring tape! Not only is it pink, but it's the measuring tape in inches I was looking for. I got sick of constantly having to use a converter, so I wanted to have my own tape in inches. This one is even better than just in inches, it's double sided, with inches on one side, and CM on the other, so all I need to do when I measure is just flip it over.

Dumpling Dynasty Sewing Kit

It's filled with other useful goodies too: 2 spools of thread, pins, scissors, a thimble (though I have to admit I never use does? Does anyone? Do you?), a seam ripper (which I unfortunately DO use a lot), buttons, needles,... in other words: Lots more excuses to buy the tin ;)

Join the Crafting in Color Etsy Team!

I'd been thinking about starting an Etsy street team for colorful shops for a while, and when Amy from AlwaysAmy and I talked about how depressing it was for us that half of the year Etsy is filled with earth tones, I decided to really set up a team.

I would like to invite all of you with bright & colorful Etsy shops to join our "Crafting in Color" team!

What is our team all about? Our goal is to make etsy a bright and colorful place, and to show the world that bright colors are not just for summer and spring!

Etsy is still working on setting up our official team profile, but we do have some other things set up: Our network, where we stay in contact using a forum, and from where the team leader (that would be me) can send messages to the entire group, to notify everytone about things that are going on in the group.

We also have a Flickr group, to show everyone your colorful creations and team treasuries!

We plan on making lots of team treasuries, have monthly challenges, etc. We are only just started out, but there seems to be a lot of interest in our team, so hopefully we will be big soon, so we can take over Etsy with all our color!

The only requirements to join are:

♥ You must have a bright & colorful Etsy team
♥ You have to join the network
♥ You need to be active in the team. This doesn't mean you have to do things for it every day, but it would be nice if we heard from you in the forums every now and then, if you made treasuries, things like that.

To join the network I will have to send you an invite, so if you have a bright & colorful shop, please contact me by Etsy convo here, or e-mail me at
info[at]tizzalicious.com
and let me know that you would like to join, plus which e-mail address I can send an invite to.

Hopefully I'll see those of you with bright & colorful shops in our team soon!

3 Year Anniversary!

The boyfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary yesterday! Well, we didn't exactly celebrate, because we both forgot until sometime in the middle of the night. "Hey, wasn't it our anniversary sometime this month?"

This is not something unusual, the same thing happens every year in October. One of us remembers, and then I search my LiveJournal for the exact date. Forgetting my anniversary date, not very girly of me, is it?

Back in 2005

This is an old picture, taken when we first met in July 2005. I miss my pink hair! And Per (the boyfriend) looks so young! I guess he was (or is?) young though, he was only 18 back then. I am 4 years older than him!

What do you think about age difference in relationships? Do you think it's weird for the girl to be older?

So couply

And another picture, this was in October 2005, when we actually became a couple. And as you can see, we acted pretty couply too!
