Cute Craftster Of The Week: Maluhia

This weeks cute craftster of the week is Maluhia. Her shop is filled with Japanese cuteness: Wallets and bags made out of Kawaii fabric, but also just fabric, for you seamstresses out there.

Some of my favourites:

Owl wallet, because everyone loves owls!

This is even better! It's one of Maluhia's Classyfied Secret Keepers, to keep all your girly things organized in your bag. God knows I need one, my bag is so messy I can never find anything in there!

Some more cuteness. A little pouch, perfect for holding your cell phone or other small items.

So, if you need to get your handbag organized a little, go check out Maluhia!

Tizzalicious Monthly Mailing List

Yesterday was spent playing with my new supplies! Don't you just love creating with new supplies? I got some ear posts for the first time, and made some adorable studs. Lots of new necklaces too, of course. I can't wait to add them to the shops, but I need to take pictures of all of it first. I'm so not looking forward to that!

I also created a mailing list for the shop. So if you'd like to receive updates about new items, click here for the Tizzalicious Monthly Mailing List. I will send out a mail at the beginning of each month, no more, so don't worry, I won't spam you.

I wish today could be as nice as yesterday (create and nothing else), but I have house work to catch up with. Yay for dishes, groceries and laundry.

Cherry Bunny

Cherry Bunny

I just added this cutie to Tizzalicious.com and Etsy. Her name is Cherry Bunny, I don't think I need to explain why!

Cute Package

Skull Stationery

Oh how I love mail! Especially when I get cute packages with things like this Skull Stationery set! It was a present from my penpal Natasha from Portland.

She also sent a few craft supplies, and "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" by Christiane Northrup and "Fugitives and Refugees" by Chuck Palahniuk. As I might have mentioned before, my boyfriend Per is half American, and grew up in Eugene, Oregon. He loves anything Oregonean, so needless to say Chuck Palahniuk is one of his (and mine!) favourite authors. He didn't read this book yet, because it's hard to get in Europe though (probably because it's about Portland) and he is really happy with!

Thank you Natasha!

I have had a good mail week in general. I got 4 packages with supplies! My hands are itching to get started with them, so expect lots of new goodies in the shop soon!

A Little Bit Of Green

Polyvore will never bore me! It's so much fun to play around with! I made this set based one a pair of my own green apple hair clips. Green is good!

Nostalgia

Today I found out the downside of making the shop official: Taxes! It took me 45 minutes on the phone, a trip to the tax place (45 minutes there!), an hour wait (only to find out they didn't know anything about sales tax there! WTF?), 45 minutes to travel back home and another phone call to ask a few measly questions about who to charge taxes. Aaaaaaaaargh!

On a happier note: I found the most amazing things on Etsy the other day! Toys I used to play with when I was little. Vintage. Does this mean I'm really old?

I randomly found this Fisher Price house in a Bettyninja Finds vintage shop, and squeed when I saw it. It reminded me of the wonderful world of Fisher price. Oh how I used to love that stuff. Especially this house.

These are the kind of people living there. Oh how familar are their faces! (Find them at Blessed Are The Geek!)

This one, from Rock Monkey, definitely looks better than ours did!

And then there's this Chime Ball I found at SoulfulHues. I had that when I was just a wee baby! Look, it's right there next to me!

Is it just me, or was I a little cross eyed?

Do you still have your toys from when you were little? Unfortunately my sister and I sold almost all of ours at the fleamarket when we were about 12 and 14 years old. We wanted TV's and CD players, and were happy to sacrifice our Barbies for that. Now I wish I kept them!

Front Page!

Things seem to be going well for me! When I woke up this morning I found 5 sales on Tizzalicious.com! Then when I checked my Etsy convo's I found a message from Connie (The Tiny Fig) that I was on the front page! I don't have a screen shot unfortunately, but it wasn't hard to find out it was this anchor necklace.

Sailove Pendant

It had over 100 views, 7 new hearts, and my overal shop hearts went up by about 40 hearts! I didn't make a sale, but I am thrilled nonetheless! (Besides, I sold those 5 items on Tizzalicious.com anyway!)

I spent most of today editing Tizzalicious.com. I had to add my business number (squeeeee!), and while I was at it I changed my banner a little and I added a link for a currency converter to all my listings, so all Europeans can see just how little that dollar is worth these days!

How has your day been? I hope everyone is feeling as great as I am!

Time To Celebrate!

I'm an official business lady now! My mom and I visited the Kamer van Koophandel (the Dutch Chamber of Commerce) to register my business this morning! It wasn't all that complicated, and the guy who helped us was super nice and helpful.

I probably won't have to pay taxes for a while, because of a special arrangement for small businesses here in Holland. If the amount of taxes you'd have to pay doesn't exceed €1300 (which would mean selling €8200 worth of products!) you don't have to pay them. No way I will earn/sell that much, so I won't have to worry about that just yet. Perfect.

After the business registration I got a hair cut (just my bangs because they were blocking my view) and I opened a business bank account right away too. So that's all set! I have a lot more to do though. I need to open a new paypal account to add to the business bank account, and then change the code for all items on my website. And I will have to add my business registry number to the site of course!

Thanks everyone who gave me advice concerning this, and for the sweet comments about my glasses too!

It feels SO good to have this done! I felt on top of the world all day! It feels a little unreal. Nothing has changed really, but it's just nice to have an official business. It makes me feel like I'm really, officially doing something with my life again.

My New Glasses!

New glasses!

Today just keeps on getting more exciting. I finally got to pick up my new glasses today! I didn't even remember what they looked like! I am still satisfied with my choice though. According to my mom they are different, but not so different that it looks weird and new. I guess she is right, they do look natural on me.

New glasses!

What do you think? I don't know what's up with the scared look. It probably had something to do with the fact that I just took about 50 pictures that all looked horrible, so I got a little camera shy!

Making It Official

No, I'm not getting married! I am busy making something else official: My business!

I never knew how much work that would be. I wish it was just sending a form to the business registry, but a lot more is involved. There's taxes to think about, so I need to register for that, and figure out how to charge my customers. I wish it was just Holland I had to worry about, but apparently I need to pay (and charge) taxes for customers from all of Europe. It's 19% here too. Ouch.

And then there's the disability problem. I get an allowance, so I need to contact them, and tell them how much profit I expect to make (if only I knew!), how many hours a week I work, etc. It's all pretty complicated, because I never work the same amount of hours, simply because I never know how my head will be. And what is considered working? My blog and blog reading does give my shop exposure, but is that marketing and thus working? Or is it just a hobby that happens to bring me business too?

Has anyone of you made their business official? When did you decide it was time for that? And does anyone live in a state or country that makes you charge sales tax? If yes, how did you handle it? Do you add it to all of your prices, or do you only charge people from your own country or state? And how do your customers react to having to pay more? Did you lose any business when you started charging sales tax? I'm really not looking forward to adding 19% to all of my products. I think I might just have to lower my prices a bit first, even though I only just raised them because I was undercharging.

Why does it have to be this complicated?

Bangles

Fabric Wrapped Bangle Bracelets

I added these to Tizzalicious.com and Etsy the other day. The red one sold right away! I think I should make a couple for myself too.

Do you often make things for yourself? I should do it more often. Because I love my goodies, and because what's a better way to promote than to walk around wearing your own fantastic creations?

DIY Scene

Thanks to Pulp Sushi I discovered this great new DIY message board: DIY Scene!

DIYscene.com - DIY Clothing, Indie Design, and Craft Discussion Forum

I signed up, posted a bit, and fell in love. The people are really nice and helpful, and there seems to be a lot of activity. You can chat about crafts, promote your shop (in your signature even!), find other great sellers, shopping tips,... lalala. It's great. They have an Etsy Street Team too!

I have gotten a few hearts out of it too. Yay for hearts!

Thanks Marilyn, for letting me know about this site!

Migraines

Inspired by the way I've been feeling the last few days, here are some migraine/headache related Etsy finds!

Not Lolly Girl "Pills" by Dance Sippy Dance

The Migraine Kid by The Shadow Cat

Lavender Eye Pillow by Impromptu Designs

Headache Earrings by The Lola Collection

Minor Headache by Noosed Kitty

Splitting Headache T-Shirt by Limescreen

Headache Print by Rob Sheridan

I hope I'll have some cuteness to show you again next time. I have been in the mood to create, but with this splitting headache nothing comes out. Whenever I start something I decide I don't feel good enough for it, and I crash on my bed again.

Weekend In Faaborg

My boyfriend's mom Diana turned 60 today. To celebrate, she took us, and some more friends and family to a hotel in Faaborg, Denmark for the weekend. We had a fantastic time! It really felt like a little vacation.

Faaborg is a very old cute town next to the sea. I took a whole bunch of pictures of course, I'll share a few of them:

These were all taken in the center of town. It had such a cute and cosy feel!

The harbour. I had breakfast there on Sunday morning, as I was awake before everyone else was, and before breakfast was served. The view was fantastic!

You can find some more pictures on my Flickr, and the pictures I took of my Blythe doll June are in my Blythe blog!

Gift From Matilou!

Gift from Matilou!

Look what I found in my mail box yesterday morning! A gift from Matilou! She loved her feature as Cute Craftster Of The Week so much that she sent me a little thank you. Isn't that sweet?

I have to say, her Fawnettes are even cuter in real life! Thank you Matilou!

Repeat Customers

Cherry Hair Clips

Aren't repeat customers the best? When I checked my e-mail last night I found an order for these cute cherry hair clips and 3 more items on Tizzalicious.com, from someone who had ordered a whole bunch at once before too! It made me excited, because it means that 1. she loved what she bought last time, 2. she loved it enough to think the price raise (I had to raise a bit because I was undercutting myself) was worth it!

Those of you with a shop: Do you get a lot of repeat customers?

And those of you without a shop: When online shopping, do you usually have a few shops you go to a lot, or do you try out lots of different ones?

One Popular Mama

Mama Matryoshka is one one popular Mama! When I wake up this morning I found her on Indie Parade! If you've never submitted anything there, just give it a try!

Mama Matryoshka is Famous!

And when I checked my Etsy convo's I found a convo from KieutiePie, who really is a cutie pie, because she featured Mama Matryoshka on Etsy Addicts! Thank you!

Mama Matryoshka is Famous!

Yay! I love being featured, it always makes my day!

The Tiny Fig

I have mentioned The Tiny Fig before, when I made Connie, the brain and hands behind it, my cute craftster of the week. That was before I actually bought something in her shop though. A few days ago I did, and the package arrived today! I just have to show you!

This is the pendant I bought. I was planning on getting one of her Bread Buddy necklaces, but when I saw this pendant I fell in love with the cute little bird!

The Tiny Fig Goodies!

The Tiny Fig Goodies!

I had to have something with the adorable Bread Buddy too though, so I bought these magnets! Aren't they adorable?

The Tiny Fig Goodies!

By now my memo board has more magnets than anything else on there. I guess I should call it a "show off cute magnets" board from now on.

Overworked?

Today has been a busy one. I have contacted a lot of websites for link exchange with Tizzalicious.com, to boost my google page rank a little. If you have a website, and you'd like to exchange links, please let me know!

Last night I added a lot of new items to Tizzalicious.com and my Etsy shop. I have a few more to do, but I should be caught up soon. One of my new items is this long necklace:

Blue Cuckoo

I have also added more monster magnets and a new apple brooch! Oh, and some destash!

Starry Destash

Note From The Boyfriend

My boyfriend left me this note in the middle of my note book! Maybe I should take his advice and actually take a break every now and then?
