Wholesale Order From France

Wholesale Order Ready To Go Out

I got a nice surprise earlier last week: an unexpected wholesale order! The order involved a lot of glueing, which I normally hate, but glued items are great to make in batches, so they are perfect for wholesale orders.

This time the order came from Otomobill, a new shop in Lille, France. I'm slowly taking over Europe! One thing I love about this shop is that they asked me to tag my items with both my shop name and address, because they like to promote indie artists, and would like the enable the buyer to buy directly from the artist. Isn't that great?

Wholesale Order Ready To Go Out

I love doing wholesale orders, and I think it's time for me to start contacting shops around here, to see if they are interested in my work. I am too shy for it though! But I really should just go for it. Have any of you approached shops for wholesale or consignment? How did you do it? Did you go see them in person, or did you contact them by phone or e-mail first? What did you bring and show them?

  2. hey girl!

try not to be shy - i know it's hard, i am shy, too! i usually email the store first (i'm more comfortable talking in email to a stranger than on the phone - the rejection will be easier for me if it's typed versus said, haha. but so far, no rejects for me!), then set up a time to come in. i ask them if they need me to provide signage, displays, etc., and i bring a consignment agreement (simple contract) just in case they don't provide one, and i also suggest things of mine that might be a good fit for them. when they get back to me, they usually have a good idea of what kinds of items of mine they want, and i bring a wide selection from those categories (earrings and pendants, for example). every store owner i've approached has been very nice and they LOVE indie artists like ourselves! so get over that shy and just jump in!

that's my advice, from a shy girl :).

  4. You absolutely should approach your local shops, your stuff is fantastic and you would open up a lot of opportunity by doing that. i understand the shyness thing though, I'm one too, just go in with a stash of your cutest stuff and be confident about it!
