Nostalgia

Today I found out the downside of making the shop official: Taxes! It took me 45 minutes on the phone, a trip to the tax place (45 minutes there!), an hour wait (only to find out they didn't know anything about sales tax there! WTF?), 45 minutes to travel back home and another phone call to ask a few measly questions about who to charge taxes. Aaaaaaaaargh!

On a happier note: I found the most amazing things on Etsy the other day! Toys I used to play with when I was little. Vintage. Does this mean I'm really old?

I randomly found this Fisher Price house in a Bettyninja Finds vintage shop, and squeed when I saw it. It reminded me of the wonderful world of Fisher price. Oh how I used to love that stuff. Especially this house.

These are the kind of people living there. Oh how familar are their faces! (Find them at Blessed Are The Geek!)

This one, from Rock Monkey, definitely looks better than ours did!

And then there's this Chime Ball I found at SoulfulHues. I had that when I was just a wee baby! Look, it's right there next to me!

Is it just me, or was I a little cross eyed?

Do you still have your toys from when you were little? Unfortunately my sister and I sold almost all of ours at the fleamarket when we were about 12 and 14 years old. We wanted TV's and CD players, and were happy to sacrifice our Barbies for that. Now I wish I kept them!

  1. Your toys look so fun hehe I have a teddy bear from when I was a few months old. All my other toys got handed down to my younger cousins and I have no idea where they are now.

  3. I don't have any toys I had when I was little. Left behind in various moves we made.
I do remember having that cash register though and something that looked a lot like that chime ball. Its weird seeing all those old toys. Brings back a lot of memories :)
I always though it was weird the Fisher Price people didn't have any arms :p

  9. My Mum kept all our good baby toys, which both my daughters have now been able to play with. As for other toys, I have everything from the rocking horse to the dolls house, and it is all still played with. I have kept a couple of things aside for Ebay one day though. I wonder if our kids will be able to do the same one day given that things are constructed much more cheaply now.

  10. Oh, I am moved, I had this Fisher Price cashier's machine. It still exists at my parents' house and my sons play with it when they go there.

  14. Ahhh...this post brings me back to my childhood for sure! The Fisher Price people were a staple in my toy box. My mom always called them Weebles, but I think actual Weebles had a round bottom because as you know "they wobble, but they won't fall down." In any case, thanks for a great post!

I also showed it to my sister and she had that nostalgic feeling too!
