Cute Craftster Of The Week: Dirty Pretty Things

It's time for my second cute craftster! Let me introduce Dirty Pretty Things by Raven! She has a shop full of art, bath/body, housewares and other cuteness.

Some of my favourites from her shop:

Cute, right? It's a nice place to spend some money, I think! And don't forget to visit Raven's blog, you can find that by clicking here!

Your Ad Here For Only $0.05!

This blog turned out to be way more popular than I anticipated, so I decided to totally sell out and offer advertisement space. You can buy ad space from me directly by contacting me at, or you can use project wonderful for it, which really is wonderful.

The rates for buying the space directly from me, to get your ads displayed on the right side bar of the blog, are:

$5 for a week
$15 for a month
$25 for 2 months
$40 for 3 months
$75 for 6 months
$120 for a whole year

These ad spaces can be paid for by paypal.

How does Project Wonderful work and how much will that cost? Project wonderful works kind of like an auction. You bid on an advertisement space, and pay only what you wish to pay. Your ad will be up as long as you're the highest bidder. It's as simple as that!

You can add funds to your account at project wonderful through paypal or credit card, or you can earn credit by placing ads on your site or blog yourself.

It seems like a much better way to advertise than Google Adwords! I tried that myself, and didn't benefit at all. You need a huge budget there to have your ads show up in searches. With this system you can at least pick your own spots! I placed some banners on various places myself too, I hope it'll bring me some traffic!

So if you would like your ad shown to over 250 different people a day, e-mail me, click the link under my Project Wonderful spots, or click here to be taken to my Project Wonderful page!

In addition, if anyone else has ad space on their site, I would love to hear about it!

Food With Faces!

So I went shopping today, and look what I found!

Aren't they just the cutest stickers ever? I am so in love with food with faces! I want all of you to be able to enjoy them too, so I picked up some extra's! You can find them on in the paper goodies section! Along with a whole lot more cuteness!

As you can see, I bought some wool too, and crochet needles, because I'm desperate to learn to crochet. I'm so jealous of all you girls who know how to handle wool!

I went to the craft store too, but all I got there was 3 pairs of scissors! Quite shocking, I know! I didn't know I was capable of buying that little there.

The Happy Housewife

Due to health issues (I suffer from chronic migraines) and obsessive crafting, promoting and etsying, I didn't do any house work for days. And it showed! Today was catch up day. I made a long to do list, and got everything done! Vacuumin, bathroom & kitchen cleaning, laundry,... You name it, I've done it. The place looks sparkly clean again now, which I'm happy about. I'm one of those people who needs to have everything tidy and organized. Mess = Stress to me.

Don't I have the cutest cleaning gloves by the way? I have a thing for buying cute versions of boring things. I also have a pink brush for cleaning the tub, a pink washing up bowl and pink & red polka dotted dish towels. Love! The more pink and red, the better. I actually have red sheets with pink polka dots too. My boyfriend wasn't too impressed when he saw those!

7 Facts About Me!

Remember the 7 Facts About Me thingie I did earlier this week? Sweet Beans and Woosle tagged me back, so here I am qith 7 more facts about me:

1. I like to watch Star Trek with my boyfriend. I didn't think I'd ever like it, as I used to hate it. But he managed to make me love our Star Trek nights.
2. I've had the urge to go to London for weeks now. I love that city. I'm saving up for the excessive shopping I'll undoubtedly do there though, so I can't go yet!
3. I love baking, but I never eat any cake or pie myself, because my stomach screws up when I do.
4. I started blogging to promote my shop, but I enjoy it so much that now I just blog because I love it.
4. I have two Blythe dolls.
5. I drink at least 1.5 liter of tea a day.
6. I love writing letters and have a whole bunch of penpals.
7. I have a stationery obsession. I have about 5 drawers full of it. It's lucky that I have so many penpals, or else it'd get more and more and take over the apartment!

I'm not tagging anyone this time, because I already did, but if you want to do this, just look in my other facts post for the rules!

On top of all the cleaning, I did today, I made some of these cute polkadotted hair clips (available on already, and coming to Etsy soon!) and I made my 10th Etsy Sale! LePetitBoutique bought a set of my green apple hair clips. They were the most popular product in my shop by far, and had tons of hearts, so I'd been wondering when they would sell! I added a new pair to the shop right away! I wonder if they will do just as good!

LePetitBoutique has an amazing shop herself by the way, with the cutest Blythe dresses! Check her out if you love Blythe! I will have to feature her some day.

I did my first custom order too. Someone preferred having only 1 clip, instead of a pair. Does anyone else feel that way? Do you think I should start selling singles?

I guess that was enough for today. I can't believe how much I wrote! I hope I didn't bore anyone to death.

Featured on Cuteable

I got some exciting news today! Cuteable featured me! She wrote about this pink cutie! This is actually the second time they did, they also featured me a few months ago when I just opened It's always exciting to see yourself featured though!

For those of you who don't know Cuteable: It's a blog with lots of cute finds every day!

I found out my USA Today ad hasn't been activated yet, so that's not where all the hits come from. Maybe it's Stumbleupon? I adore that site, by the way! I enjoy clicking the "Stumble!" button and see what comes up! I found some great sites already!

Treasuries & 1000 Visitors!

When I woke up yesterday my blog had around 930 visitors. When I went to bed the counter said 973, and when I woke up this morning I had past the 1000 visitors mark! Where they all came from? No idea. I signed up for the USA Today promo on fuelmyblog. Maybe that got activated? Whatever it is, I like it!

In other news: I finally managed to get a treasury again! I kept meaning to be there when the slot opened all week, but I kept forgetting to check back! I didn't this time though, so you can come check out my "Deep In The Forest" treasury here.

The items and artists I featured this time are:

White Tail Deer Brooch by katebroughton
Amigurumi Mama and Baby Owl Pattern by Pepika
Little Brown Deer Hair Clips by nettiepete
Owl Canvas by stitchella
The Woods Are Lovely, Dark & Deep Tags by Amalia Mae Paper Goods
Centaur In A Field Of Mushrooms Pocket Mirror by Faff Creations

Grandma Is Waiting Print by HidenSeek
Yearling Necklace by bombalurina
Mr. Peeper On French Blue Polymer Pendant by MissFickleMedia
What Hoot Owl Notes by OhManCreations

I also found myself featured in this lovely apple treasury by Bijoetery! Don't you just love those yellow stars?

Tiny Dresses

This is Mimi showing off the first dress I made her. Isn't she cute? You might have noticed I have a slight apple obsession!

I've been trying to make more Blythe dresses, so I can sell some, but my sewing machine hasn't been working the way it should, so I had to put that on hold, unfortunately.

Today I kept myself busy with creating a new banner for this blog, and creating a domain name for it. I should be reachable at from now on!

I also spent some time in the Etsy chat room, which was a lot of fun! I love the little widget they have where you can paste item numbers from other sellers (or your own I guess), and show them!

I decided I need to stress about advertising a little less. I keep going to bed way too late because I'm busy with all kinds of shop related stuff. It's not good, I need my sleep! Does anyone else obsess over their shop like I do?

What do you do with your craft projects gone wrong? Or slightly wrong? Do you sell them as oopsies? Do you keep them for yourself?

I'm working on a new softie, and everything that can go wrong seems to go wrong. I screwed up cutting the fabric on the first try. On the second try I did again. I didn't want to waste it all, so I cut off the head, and turned it into a pin cushion. A little macarbre, I know, cutting off this cute bunnies' head, and then sticking pins in it, but maybe it beats a life in the trash can? Besides, I have the cutest pun cushion ever now!

On my third try I kept messing up the applique, I just couldn't get it on right. I jammed the needle under my nails (ouch!), I kept getting strange knots in my thread, and I ran out of thread before I got all the way around. Aaaaaaah! Maybe I should have given up for today, but I want this cutie to be done! I'm almost finished now, I'm stuffing her. I think she'll be perfect when she's done.

I'm glad everyone liked my softie tutorial by the way! Please show me the results if you're going to try making one!

Tizzie's Tutorials #1: How To Make A Softie

Welcome to Tizzie's Tutorials #1! I added this cute monster to and my Etsy shop today, but I wanted to show you how to make one yourself too!

What you need:

- Fleece fabric
- Embroidery thread
- Sewing thread
- Buttons
- Decorations, like bows or appliques
- Pins
- Needles
- Normal & fabric scissors
- Something soft for the stuffing

Step 1: Draw your pattern. As you can see on my pattern, you don't really need to be a good drawer for this!

Step 2: Cut out your pattern. If you want your softie to be symetric, you might want to only draw one half, then fold your paper in half and cut both halves at the same time.

Step 3: Place 2 pieces of fabric on top of each other, pin the pattern on it, and cut around the pattern.

Step 1, 2 & 3

Step 4: It's time to give your softie a face. Add a mouth with embroidery thread and buttons for eyes...

Step 4

Some people prefer doing this after they put the whole thing together, but I prefer doing it first, do I don't need to worry about where to leave spare threads, they can just stay on the back, as they'll end up inside anyway.

Step 5: Add some more decoration, like an applique on the belly or a bow for a more girly look!

Step 5

Step 6: When you finished adding the face and decoration, it's time to sew the back and front together. Place them on top of each other (with the insides facing each other), and use a blanket stitch. Take a long thread, at least 2.5 times as long as the complete outline of your softie. Make sure you don't stitch it up completely yet, you'll need a hole to add the stuffing! If you don't know how to do a blanket stitch, don't worry, I'll make a tutorial for this in the near future! For now, maybe this site or this video might help you out!

Step 6

Step 7: We're almost done! All we need to do now is add stuffing! Start with the little parts, like the ears, arms and legs. Use something small (like your little finger, the back of a spoon, a pen, anything like that) to get into the small spots.

Step 7

Step 8: Sew up the gap!

Step 9: Show off the cuteness you just created! If all failed, you can always buy one of my creations on or in my Etsy shop of course!

Step 8 & 9

New Pendants

I figured out those domino tiles could be useful for a lot more than just domino jewelry, so I used them as a base for these 3 awesome pendants! I'm absolutely in love with them myself! You can find all three on and on Etsy.

Other things I've been working on are: The cutest softie with a tutorial and Blythe coasters! More about those later!

Cute Craftster of the Week: Lemon Shortbread

I decided to feature other sellers more often, so I came up with Cute Craftster (or Crafter, of course!) of the week. It might not be exactly every week though, it'll probably be more like a few times one week, and not at other weeks.

Well, let's start with the very first Craftster of the Week!

When I asked for cute shops to feature on the Etsy forums, Lemon Shortbread replied that she'd love to be featured, but she didn't know if her shop was cute enough. Let's see...

Not cute enough? Even my boyfriend called it adorable! And who wouldn't?

Find it here in Lemon Shortbread's Etsy shop!

New Mini Art & Domino Goodies!

Yesss! They're here! Three brand new pieces of mini doll art! I used pictures of my own dolls this time, instead of the illustration I used before. I hope everyone likes them just as much as I do! You can find them in my Etsy shop!

And, there's more! Yes, I've been busy! I made the earrings and necklaces to match the domino brooches I wrote about before. As you can see the necklace is reversible! There's a dragon on the back, or front, if you want! You can find them at and in my Etsy shop.

7 Facts About Me

Desirai tagged me!

This is the first time I''ve done this, and my blog is not very old yet, so I don't really know anyone yet...I hope I didn't annoy anyone by tagging them!

Here are the rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

7 facts about me:

1. I eat an apple for breakfast every day
2. I am the queen of squeezing things out of tubes. When they seem empty I can use them for weeks to come. How did I get this fantastic skill? My sister and I shared a sink in the attic, and we were both too lazy to go downstairs to get new toothpaste, so we'd squeeze and squeeze until one of us eventually had to go downstairs to get a new tube.
3. I am a Hanson fan.
4. I am obsessed with rice crackers with peanut butter.
5. My mom taught me how to sew when I was very little. My sister and I spent a lot of time sewing Barbie clothes, using only the wheel, because using the paddle was too dangerous.
6. I'm incredibly clumsy. My boyfriend and I made an "who breaks the most" scoreboard. He's on 8 points, I have 19. We also have no glasses left.
7. I love anything rockabilly. I will instantly fall in love with any item with: Dice, cherries, anchors, swallows, polka dots,...

7 People I've tagged:

Paw Prints Project
Ophelia Miller Boutique
Mushroom Meadows
Sweet Beans
Me & Blythe
Milkberry Muffin

Alright, time to write another blog entry about the new cuteness in my shop!

Ribbon Addicted Shopaholic

I'm a bit of a ribbon addict. I have rolls and rolls of different kinds in all colours and with all kinds of patterns. My favourite until now were the ones with polka dots. That was until I got these ones though! Look at them! Pink, red and green with skulls? Perfect!

What's your crafty addiction? Is there anything you just can't stop buying?

To be honest, it's not just ribbon for me. I am a bit of a craft store shopaholic. Okay, maybe not just a craftstore shopaholic, but a shopaholic in general.

I have these phases where I really get into something and can't stop buying it. I went from socks, to underwear, to bags, to hair clips, to necklaces, to fabric, to scrap book paper,... You get the point. The worst thing is, when I get new obsession, the old ones don't go away. I'm an obsession collector and my apartment is FULL!

New This Week

What's new this week? I added quite a few new items to both and my Etsy store. Of course there is the mini art I posted about a few days ago, but I also added a few new necklaces and these super cute domino brooches!

I'll make some matching earrings and pendants as soon as I have new jump rings.

More news: I added a blog roll, so if you are interested in exchanging links, please let me know! I also added a plug board, so get plugging everyone!

I think that was it for this weeks news, I hope you'll tune in next week, same time, same place!

Shop Shop Shop!

I went downtown to buy some canvas for my new project today, and naturally I couldn't resist going on a big money spending spree.

I went out just for canvas, but came home with: 3 rolls of cute tape, 2 sets of pins, fleece to make softies, 4 (!!!!) books, the most amazing ribbon I've ever seen, plain black ribbon, photo paper, plain coasters to decorate and these amazing cookie jars! I got them at Panduro, the craft store. Why they sold those there, I have no idea, but I'll be using them for craft supplies (as I do with all the other 10 million boxes in our apartment).

Pizza for dinner tonight! Wooo! I think I deserve it, after cycling around the entire city! I left when it was sunny, but by the time I came home it was snowing a little! Aaaah!

Mini Art!

Tadaaaaa! Here it is, my first mini art! Like I said in my post about decos, I've found a way to combine my love for decoing and making things that are actually sellable.

I started small, this collage on canvas is only 4 x 6 cm (1.6 x 2.4 inch), but that makes it perfect for a doll house, or a combination of more than one of these would look really cute on a normal wall. I'm planning on making more of these tiny ones this week, and I'll go out to buy bigger canvas too, so I can make some larger sized ones soon. I'm so excited about this!

New Packaging

How do you pack your sold items? For a while I just sent them in zip lock bags, but after seeing everyones cute packaging on Etsy, I decided it was time for me to change to a nicer way of packing too!

A few weeks ago I designed postcards to use for the packaging of my necklaces and earrings. A few days ago my package from Vistaprint arrived, so I could finally use the new packaging!

I really like how it turned out! There will be cellophane around it of course, like on the cake picture in the first picture.

I still need to find a good way to balance the left over chain in the back though. I got some advice on the Etsy forums, like putting the chain in a small zip lock bag, or wrap it in some tissue paper, and stick that to the back of the card. It doesn't really work though (maybe I do it wrong?), the chain just falls out of the bag/tissue paper! Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?

In other news: I finished the little deco type wall art I was working on! I will take pictures of it after I posted this, and blog about it later.

New Look!

I just gave this page a new look, to be able to type around pictures without having it look all cluttered. What do you think?

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Does any of you lovely readers do any form of paper crafts? I personally love making decos. So what exactly are decos?

Decos are booklets with about 6 pages. The maker of the booklet decorates the cover, and then sends it on to a swapper (or penpal) who swaps decos too. They decorate a page, pass it on, etc. This goes on until the booklet is full. The person who signs the last page returns it to the maker, or if the maker started it for someone else, to that person. Everyone who signs includes their address or e-mail address, so the receiver can make thank you decos for them!

A deco can have a theme (like colours, celebs, Blythe, pin ups,...) or it can be unthemed. It's basically scrapbooking by mail! And who doesn't like to get mail?

There are lots of deco groups on Yahoo. One of my favourite groups at the moment is Sparkling Deco Divas.

The deco you see here is one I made last week. As you can see I use all kinds of things to decorate the pages. I love ribbon, thread and glitter!

I am currently working on something I came up with some time ago, where I can combine my love for decos and making something you can actually put on the wall. It's still in process though, so more about that when I finished my first piece of art!

Happy Valentine!

Happy Valentine everyone! Is anyone doing anything special? The boyfriend is taking me out for dinner tonight! We're going to a fancy restaurant near where we live. They have the most delicious food there, and all made from scratch!

I don't think I've introduced you to the pretty girl on top of this post yet! This is my Blythe doll Mimi! She's a "Love Mission". I adopted her from a girl on the This Is Blythe forums in September this year. I was planning on sticking with one girl, but a month later I bought a "Cloud 9 Bowl" who I named June. I will introduce her later!

If you are interested in more pictures of both Mimi and June, just have a look at my Flickr!

Super Glue = Evil

It turns out that me + superglue = bad combination. First of all, I managed to get the cap glued onto the tube, so there was no way to open it again. Then I opened a new tube, and managed to get the glue all over my hands. No matter how careful I am, this aaalways happens!

So today I took a trip to town to get some rubber gloves to wear next time I use them! And afterwards I couldn't resist going into the craft store and spending all my money of course!

Monday, February 11, 2008 & Tizzalicious at Etsy: New and Improved!

Like I wrote last time, I spent a lot of time working on editing my pictures. By now I finished the ones on (which looks fantastic now, I must say!) too, and I added more info to all the descriptions. It sure kept me busy! I haven't had any time do do anything crafty. The closest thing I did was sewing some buttons that fell off my coat back on. I can hardly call that an enjoyable way of sewing!

I have some ideas for new brooches, necklaces & earrings though, so keep an eye on my shops!

Photo Editing

I've completely neglected my blog lately! Sorry! I have been insanely busy editing the pictures in my shop. I want to erase the background in all of them, so they'll all look pretty like this one.

I finished almost all of the items I have in my Etsy store (except the Blythe jewelry) and am working on the items on now. It's so much work, but totally worth it, I've been in 4 treasuries (that I know of) since I edited them! Yay for that!

I also went out to buy more poker chips today, so except more poker goodies soon!
