Memories

Who taught you how to sew, or do any other craft you do? My mom taught me how to sew when I was little. My sister and I spent ours making Barbie clothes using only the wheel on the machine because the pedal was too dangerous.

A few years later, when I was actually allowed to use the pedal, my mom and I made a fantastic outfit for me together, I wish I had a proper picture of it. I'm still happy she taught me how to sew!

When I started sewing Blythe dresses I figured it'd be easy. If I could sew Barbie clothes when I was 8, surely I would be able to make little Blythe outfits now
too? I guess I didn't count in the fact that maybe I had lower standards back then! Or maybe sewing tiny clothes is easier with tiny fingers?

  2. Hehe, I got so excited when I found that picture!

I'm glad I did pay attention, I'd hate having to learn to sew now! I wish I paid more attention when she tried to get me to knit and crochet too!

I like your blog a lot too, and your hair! (Mine was pink for a while, I miss it!)

  4. I used to make my Barbie's clothes when I was younger and I agree that making Blythe clothes is a lot more difficult! I recently had a complete sewing disaster with Aoife!

  8. My grandmother taught me to sew. She had a alteration/craft store when I was a kid and I spent a lot of time there "helping" with the customers. The best project we did together was making my wedding dress 8 years ago. I will never forget those special moments.
